EVERYTHING IS OVER : Welcome to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Napoli

On December 4, 2020, it was officially confirmed: the stadium of Napoli San Paolo, as of today, is officially named after the legendary Argentine Diego Armando Maradona.

The whole procedure around the name change went smoothly. The whole of Italy has looked favorably on this idea, although there is an article in state law that says that a public institution or area cannot be named after a recently deceased person, but must exceed ten years.

The idea of changing the name of the stadium immediately started from the president of the club, Aurelio de Laurentis, and was supported by the mayor of Naples, and then by the local authorities. And as almost all Italian media reported this Friday around 4.30 pm, the decision to rename the stadium in Naples to Diego Armando Maradona is – official.

Let us remind you, Maradona played for Napoli from 1984 to 1991 and won two Italian championship titles, the Italian Cup, the UEFA Cup and the Italian Super Cup.
Diego Armando Maradona died on November 25 from the consequences of a heart attack, and he was buried in the Bela Vista cemetery in Buenos Aires.
