Just three days after beating Liverpool 2-0 in the Champions League as a guest, Atalanta was defeated tonight at home in the ninth round of Serie A against Verona.
This is the third consecutive game in the Italian championship that Atalanta failed to win, in the previous two it drew with Inter and Spezia, so it remained in the ninth position on the table with 14 points.
With Ivan Ilic in the starting lineup, and without Darko Lazovic, who is still recovering from the coronavirus, Verona took the lead in the 62nd minute, when Veloso scored a penalty for the visiting team.
Atalanta’s answer was expected, but instead, in the 83rd minute, Verona’s excellent attack, Veloso hired Zakanji, who accepted the ball nicely, and then defeated Sportiela diagonally from the left side – 0:2.
This is Verona’s fourth victory of the season, which broke through to the sixth position on the table, with 15 points won.
